The spin-off of Suits, Suits LA had high hopes from the ranging expectations but it appears that the show could not deliver the response that was supposed to. The network also yanked the plug on the show after one season. Speaking to Variety, the creators have now spoken about why they didn’t pursue a second season.
What led to the SUITS LA Cancellation?
“It’s so hard to talk about shows and which ones you bring back, and Suits had a very short run, but it just really has not resonated the way we would have hoped,” said Jeff Bader, president, program planning strategy, of NBCUniversal Entertainment to Variety. There can be a lot, a lot of reasons why, people are speculating why it hasn’t resonated, but it’s just not really showing that it is able to grow for us in the future, unfortunately.”

‘We were forced to make some hard decisions’
And it’s those judgments that we have to make. We had to study the performance of the shows on both linear and digital. We had to go see the ones that looked like they were grow this much going forward. So we’re analyzing how stable they are on their linear performance, how stable they are on digital, which ones are growing, which ones are declining. And we had to make some tough choices.”
