Raveena to Rasha, but Not Nysa? Kajol Shares Words on Bollywood Legacy and Her Children’s Decisions.

The wonder of the Bollywood legacy continues to enchant people who adore film. Generations of fans have seen iconic stars such as Raveena Tandon light up the screen, and soon, their kids are poised to claim the light. As Rasha Thadani steps into the opportunity her mother once claimed, and in a recent interview, Kajol offers a delectable and refreshingly honest take, not every star kid wants to be a star.

In this day and age, with Bollywood Legacy being a frequent or topical conversation issue, Kajol’s candidness about her daughter Nysa Devgan’s future career in not pursuing film was a paradox in itself.  Let’s take a closer look at how various celebrity families are coping with fame, their own choices, and legacy in the world of cinema.

Rasha Thadani: Raveena’s Bollywood Legacy Continues

One of the reigning queens of Bollywood during the 1990s was Raveena Tandon; she has been a leading actress in films such as Mohra, Andaz Apna Apna, and Dilwale. Now, her daughter, Rasha Thadani, intends to carry the torch.

Rasha just made her debut this past week in the film Azad, opposite Aaman Devgan, Ajay Devgn’s nephew. While the film was not a box office success, Rasha’s dance in the song Uyi Amma, and her presence in general in the film, raised a few eyebrows, and while members of the audience praised her for her screen presence, and referred to her as a promising new face in the industry.

Indeed, Rasha’s entry into Bollywood takes place in an area where there is increasing interest in the star kids and how those star kids are presented to the audience about representing their family’s Bollywood legacy. Given her poise and talent, and her clear comfort with the camera, Rasha seems like she will carve her own identity while paying homage to her mother’s past. Kajol on Nysa Devgan: A Different Path

Still, while Rasha is happy to enter the spotlight, Kajol’s daughter, Nysa Devgan, seems to be on a somewhat different journey. During an interview to promote her upcoming film Maa, Kajol was asked if Nysa planned to enter the industry in the same way Rasha did, and her response was refreshingly ‘human.’

“No, I don’t think she will,” Kajol said. “She is not interested in movies.”

The actress stressed how making personal choices is especially important in high-profile professions like acting. “I love all my children in the family and I truly want them to be happy and do what they want to be successful at.”

Kajol’s ideas ring true for many parents today—even if they aren’t from the glitzy world of Bollywood. She quietly pushes back on the notion that a Bollywood legacy should always fall to the next generation.

When Fame Meets Family

Kajol is honest and open even about her children and their home life. She became emotional and funny when she discussed how her kids have responded to her film work.

“My kids don’t like my films, because I have to cry,” she said, smiling. “Nysa and Yug get upset when they see me cry onscreen. I tell them it’s all fake, and they just can’t seem to get that.”

This small detail about her family brings into focus how real Kajol is, and how down to earth she is, even after her experiences in the industry for nearly three decades. It serves to remind us that a film star is a parent, a child, and a family who is living life in the shadow of fame.

Kajol’s New Movie: A New Genre, New Role

While her kids might not always be a fan of her emotional performances, fans are waiting to see Kajol in her new movie, Maa. Different from her typical roles, Maa is a mythological horror drama centred around Makhan, a fictional village in Chandrapur.

The plot line follows a mother and daughter returning to the father’s hometown after his mysterious death with a dark curse hanging over them. The movie features Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta and Kherin Sharma, and promises to be intense and cinematic. Maa is set to be released in theatres on June 27.

This movie is another chapter of Kajol’s abundant Bollywood resume, and ultimately shows her versatility and penchant for risk-taking which has defined her journey from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge to Salaam Venky.

Legacy, Choice, and Individuality

Not all children of a star want to be a star – and that’s okay. Rasha Thadani, while actively pursuing the same path as her mother, is forging ahead herself with elegance and promise, whereas Nysa Devgan is walking a different path away from the film set limelight.

The discussion surrounding the Bollywood legacy has shifted. It is no longer only pertinent to discuss who is the next star by way of debut, but how families are now supporting their children to make choices based on their ambitions, not on public expectations.

Kajol was refreshingly candid, and Raveena was quietly supportive of her daughter making her own choice to enter their film debuts. It is comforting to see a collective sense of change, a burgeoning perception of freedom, and a Bollywood that does not just focus on a family image.

Closing Thoughts: The Future of Bollywood Legacy is Choice

As stories unfold and faces emerge, there is a bold statement to be made about Bollywood legacy not being a direct line handed down generation to generation; that it will remain a shared family dynamic, but always personally directed by intention, ambition, and genuineness.

Rasha may be dancing into the limelight and Nysa may be choosing a different stage altogether, but they are both valid journeys, including several others, that are inspiring and accepting of individual and uniquely made choices. The evolution of Bollywood is, in this shift; from legacy-focused to choice-focused.
